Why Host a Kenai River Brown Bear
Junior A Player?

As a Kenai River Brown Bear Host Family you will be opening your home and your lives to a Junior A hockey player.  The hockey season, which runs from late August through April, will be demanding and intense, but will provide many rewards for those that are dedicated and work hard.

The Kenai River Brown Bears will play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), a very prestigious league composed of 18 teams from around the United States.  The primary goal of the NAHL is to enhance the development of its players through top-quality coaching, extensive practice time and a rigorous game schedule.  The NAHL competition helps players make the transition from midget and high school hockey to college and professional hockey by creating an environment that is highly competitive, encourages skill development and provides time for physical growth and maturity.

These young men, who are between the ages of 16 and 20, have been working most of their lives to earn the opportunity to play Junior hockey.  The Kenai River Brown Bears’ role is to help them further their development and get them to the "Next Level", both in hockey and in life.  You, as a Host Family, will play an extremely important role in helping these young men achieve their dreams!
